How we write our guides
Holgo's guides explain how to write listings for each marketplace. This page covers who writes them, where the facts come from and how we keep them current.
Who writes them
The guides are written by the Holgo team. We've sold on Etsy and eBay since 2012, and we write about listing work we do ourselves. We use AI tools to help draft, and a person on the team reviews every guide and checks its facts before it is published.
Where the facts come from
Marketplace rules come from the marketplace's own current pages: its help center, seller handbook, policies and developer documentation. Each guide lists the pages it relies on under Sources. Other sellers' blogs and forum posts are never the source for a rule, and when a marketplace does not publish a number, we don't print one.
How we keep them current
For every rule we use, we record the page it came from and the date we last checked it. We recheck those pages on a regular schedule, and when a marketplace changes a rule, we update the guides that rely on it.
What the dates mean
Each guide shows the date it was published. An Updated date appears when we change something that matters to a reader, such as a rule that changed or a section we rewrote. Fixing a typo does not change it.
Brands in examples
When a guide names a real brand or product, it is only to show how a listing for that kind of item might look. No one pays to appear in a guide.
Holgo in our guides
Holgo is our product, and most guides end with a short section on where it fits. The advice before that section works whether or not you use Holgo.
Corrections
If something in a guide is wrong or out of date, tell us through the contact form. We check every report against the marketplace's own pages and fix what is wrong.
