Illustration of the six fields Poshmark requires, each ticked

Poshmark buyers shop the way people shop in a store: by brand, by size, by category. A good Poshmark listing makes each of those easy to match, and gives the buyer enough detail to buy without sending you five questions first.

This guide follows the order of Poshmark's listing form, with the rules taken from Poshmark's own how to list support article.

What Poshmark requires

To publish a listing, Poshmark asks for a title, description, category, size, original price and listing price. Brand and condition are not on that required list, but leaving them out costs you: brand and size are the first filters most Poshmark buyers use.

Photos: up to 16, square

You can add up to 16 photos to a listing, and Poshmark recommends images around 1000 × 1000 pixels, which is square. The first photo is your cover shot, the image buyers see in feeds and search results.

A set that answers most buyer questions:

  1. Cover shot: the whole item, straight on, with nothing else in the frame.
  2. Back view.
  3. Brand label and size tag, close enough to read.
  4. Fabric or care label.
  5. Details: hardware, pattern, texture.
  6. Every flaw, close up, in good light.
  7. Measurements: the item flat, with a tape measure across the chest or waist and down the length.

Title: 80 characters, brand first

Poshmark's title limit is 80 characters, and its own advice is to feature the brand. A reliable order:

Brand · item name or style · key detail · size · color

Madewell Perfect Vintage High Rise Jeans Light Wash Size 27

Write what the item is in the words buyers search with. Jeans and high rise get searched; so cute!! does not.

Description: the details a photo cannot show

Poshmark suggests including condition, measurements, fabric content, date codes where they apply, and other relevant keywords. A layout that is easy to scan on a phone:

Madewell Perfect Vintage jeans in a light wash.

Condition: excellent, light fading at the knees (see photo 7).
Size 27. Measured flat: waist 14", rise 10.5", inseam 28".
Fabric: 99% cotton, 1% elastane.

Pairs well with a cropped knit or a tucked-in tee.

Describe every flaw, even small ones. A buyer who was told about a mark in advance is a buyer who does not open a case about it.

Original price and condition

  • Original price is required. If you do not know the retail price, Poshmark allows your best estimate or $0.
  • New with tags (NWT) is only for new items with the tags still attached. Anything else should be described as it is.

What to avoid

Poshmark has said it now gives less weight to overly broad or misused keywords, and asks sellers to avoid keyword stuffing so search can connect buyers with the right listings. In practice:

  • Don't list other brands in the title or description to catch their searches ("not Lululemon", "like Free People").
  • Don't paste long lists of loosely related words.
  • Do fill in brand, size and condition properly. Those are what search and filters use.

A checklist before you list

  • Cover shot is clean, square and shows the whole item.
  • Brand and size tags are photographed.
  • Title starts with the brand and names the item plainly.
  • Size, brand and category are all set.
  • Every flaw is shown and described.
  • No other brands are named for search.
